GEORGE TOWN, May 14 – DAP is not interested to contest in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar parliamentary by-elections next month, said party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today. He said, for the moment, this is the decision from DAP. He said the decision whether Pakatan Harapan will contest in the coming by-elections will only be made together with the other opposition party leaders.
“We will discuss this together, then only there is a spirit of solidarity. I do not want to speak too soon. It was too early for me to make any comment or announcement which the by-election was held on next month. For me, we have to ask the Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali first because this is his state. Not fair for him if ask me,” he told reporters after the press conference of Anime Matsuri 2016, Magical Summer at Macallum Connoisseurs here today.
The by-elections in Selangor and Perak are scheduled to take place simultaneously on June 18 following the deaths of the incumbent representatives, Datuk Noriah Kasnon and Datuk Wan Muhammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad respectively, in a helicopter tragedy early this month.
