Ringgit Opens Higher Against US Dollar
KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 – The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar on renewed buying interest. At 9.03 am, the local unit was quoted at 4.0750/0800 against the greenback from 4.0800/0830 at 5 pm on Thursday. The local note was also traded higher against other major currencies.
It rose against the Singapore dollar to 2.9538/9591 from Thursday’s close of 2.9593/9632 and went up against the euro to 4.5628/5700 from 4.5786/5832 yesterday. The ringgit strengthened against the yen to 3.7042/7098 from 3.7061/7098 and appreciated against the British pound to 5.9475/9572 from 5.9752/9812.
