GEORGE TOWN, May 20 – The 4th IJM Land Penang Women’s Open 2016 to be held at Nicol David International Squash Centre which sponsored by IJM Land from 31 May to 4 June 2016. The tournament will be a PSA 5 event with a total prize money package of USD5000.
The 4th edition will feature a host of top local players challenging for the coveted title. Seeded one in the raw of 16 will be local Malaysian Teh Min Jie ranked 59n in the world rankings. Tong Tsz-Wing, world number 61 from Hong Kong is seeded second in the tournament .
Therefore, the third and fourth seeded are local Penangite Vanessa Raj and Malaysian Rachel Arnold, the former ranked 62 and the latter 63 in the world rankings. Besides that, this year’s tournament has also attracted a host of local up and coming young talents.
Among the many are Aifa Azman, 2016 British Junior Open Champion from Kedah and Nur Aliah Izzati, Penang’s junior number one player both featuring in the qualifying event. Top Japanese junior, Satomi Watanabe who has been residing and training in Penang for numerous years has been given the wildcard for the main draw.
The tournament is organised by the Squash Racket Association of Penang (SRAP) and sanctioned by PSA World Tour. This event is also supported by the Penang State Government, Penang State Sports Council and also the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia.

Dato’ Toh Chin Leong; Vice President of Squash Racket Association of Penang (SRAP), Linda Geh; Honorary Secretary of Squash Racket Association of Penang (SRAP), Chee Kok Ken; and Squash Racket Association of Penang (SRAP) committee members.
