BALIK PULAU, Jun 9 – Penang police arrested four members of the gang, known as “Geng Azrit Pesona” which just been active for about two months, in relation to 13 vehicle and motorcycle theft cases at Southwest, Northeast and Seberang Prai Tengah. Southwest district police chief Superintendent Lai Fah Hin today hold a press conference said the men, aged between 18 and 23, were picked up individually in multiple locations on the island and the mainland last week.
“We had also detained the mastermind in Bukit Mertajam and a series of follow-up operations rounded up the remaining three men. Our team raided one vehicle (Produa Kancil), four motorcycles and eight cannibalised machines that had been stripped off their engine components at mastermind house,” Lai said.
Mastermind of the gang, in his 20s, had been released from jail with theft offences under Section 379A (1) of the Penal Code back in two months while the other three suspects no record in past offences. Lai said the four men’s remand expires today while the case had also been referred to the northeast police district for further action.
