GEORGE TOWN, Jun 10 – Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah is recuperating well from the intestinal surgery he underwent on Monday, said Deputy Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya. He said Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah can be transferred to the ordinary ward but has opted to remain in intensive care for privacy. He told the reporters outside the Intensive Care Unit of the Penang Hospital.
Dr Hilmi was accompanied by the hospital director, Datuk Dr M. Sukumar. Besides Dr Hilmi, Ahmad Bashah had several other visitors, among them the Tunku Laksamana of Kedah, Tunku Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Thani and Penang Police chief Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab. Eight Penang Barisan Nasional state assemblymen, led by Penang Opposition Leader Datuk Jahara Hamid, also visited Ahmad Bashah.
Jahara said they prayed for the early recovery of the menteri besar. Ahmad Bashah was transferred to the Penang Hospital on Monday from the Kedah Medical Centre in Alor Star where he was admitted at about 7pm on Saturday after complaining of dizziness. He was then chairing a meeting of Kedah BN state assemblymen at the Grand Alora Hotel in Alor Star. — Bernama
