KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 11 – The MIC is confident that Indian votes for the Barisan Nasional will increase from the current 70% to 85% at the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections next Saturday. MIC’s Central Working Committee (CWC) member Datuk M. Saravanan said the increase was because the Indian community including youths have realised that only BN has a clear agenda for the Indian community.
He said that the opposition has no clear direction and proper planning for Indian youths and community. He said this has been proven ever since the 12th general election. He told this to reporters after officiating a Youth Social Development Camp at Nur Laman Bestari Resort, near here, Saturday. The camp organised by Seputeh Hindu Youth Camp and attended by 70 youths was aimed at promoting moral, civic and spiritual awareness among Indian youths.
The Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seats were left vacant following the deaths of incumbents, Datuk Noriah Kasnon who was also Plantation Industries and Commodities deputy minister and Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak, last May 5. Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid is BN candidate for Kuala Kangsar while Budiman Mohd Zohdi, the BN candidate in Sungai Besar. — Bernama
