Ranum Submits Application To Join PBB

LUNDU, Jun 12 – Opar assemblyman Ranum Anak Mina, who contested in the recent Sarawak state election as a BN-direct candidate, has submitted his application to join Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). Ranum submitted the form to Opar PBB branch chairman Asiang Anak Gihep, after UPP branch leaders, community leaders, supporters and Opar BN voters today gave their support and approval for him to join the PBB, during a meeting here on Saturday.

Among those present at the meeting were Asiang, Opar UPP acting chairman Bengkil Anak Jimi, and Opar Community Unity Committee (MASOPAR) chairman Lidang Anak Diseri, as well as society and community leaders, led by Pemanca London Anak Tasin.

He said he have been informed that all present (in the meeting) unanimously want him to join PBB. He said that’s the decision they made, and he have agreed to the request. He told this to reporters here. PBB President Tan Sri Adenan Satem, who is also Sarawak Chief Minister and Sarawak BN chairman, had previously asked BN-direct candidates to get the support and approval of the voters in their constituencies to join PBB.

Ranum is among nine BN-direct candidates who competed in the 11th Sarawak state elections in May, and all of them have expressed interest in joining the PBB. Ranum was previously a founding member of UPP, a BN-friendly party, and he had to get out of the party to contest as a BN-direct candidate in the recent polls.

Meanwhile, Bengkil said more than 700 UPP members in Opar wanted Ranum to join PBB. Pemanca London, representing all society and community leaders in Opar, said he fully agreed with Ranum joining PBB for the future well-being of the people, and the strength of BN in the Opar constituency. Asiang said he would submit Ranum’s application form to the PBB headquarters, for consideration. — Bernama
