BUKIT MERTAJAM, Jun 15 – Police have detained a man who impersonated a police personnel at Seberang Perai Tengah. Penang Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Razaruddin [email protected] Abdul Rasid said the 36-year-old suspect was nabbed at 11.30am in the compound of a house which an Indonesian woman was renting, at Taman Perwira, Permatang Tinggi here.
“Three men including the suspect had gone to the house where the woman, a factory operator was staying and knocked on the door while introducing themselves as police. The woman was suspicious and did not open the door but immediately contacted her employer. Her supervisor arrived accompanied by policemen … two of the men managed to escape,” he told Bernama here today.
Razaruddin said the suspect who has been remanded for four days had 10 convictions for drugs and other crimes, and also tested positive for drugs. He urged members of the public who had fallen prey to the group to help police in their investigations. — Bernama
