KOTA KINABALU, Jun 17 – Sabah Social Services Council (MPMS), an agency under the state Community Development and Consumer Affairs Ministry, today handed over financial aid worth RM1.55 million to 17 welfare volunteer organisations here on Thursday.
According to a statement from MPMS today, the aid were delivered by the minister who is also MPMS president, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid to help the organisations to implement its activities and programmes. MPMS in a statement today said the state government is very concerned on the welfare needs and appreciate the co-operation by these organisations in shaping a caring society.
Among the aid’s top receivers were Sabah Cheshire Home which received RM320,000, Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (RM300,000), The Sabah Society for the Deaf (RM200,000) and the Sabah Kidney Society (RM150,000). MPMS is a statutory body established in 1954 to forge a smart partnership between the state government and welfare volunteer organisations.
Meanwhile, MPMS is affiliated to 25 organisations and served to promote efforts on welfare volunteer in fields that are not covered by the state government. It also gives assistance to welfare volunteer organisations by providing training and contribution. — Bernama
