KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 17 – Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today urged voters in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar to help Barisan Nasional retain the parliamentary seats on Saturday to enable BN to continue with its excellent service in the two constituencies. In the latest post on his Facebook account, the Prime Minister said he hoped that the voters would not be taken in by the political game and untruths of the opposition parties.
“Insya-Allah (God willing), today is the last day of campaigning before the voters in Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar play a significant role in deciding the future of their constituencies through the democratic process of the by-elections tomorrow,” he said.
He said, give (BN candidates) Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid and Budiman Mohd Zohdi the opportunity to continue with the excellent service of Barisan Nasional in your constituencies. The by-elections are being held following the deaths of the MPs, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad (Kuala Kangsar) and Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon (Sungai Besar), in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.
The Kuala Kangsar by-election is a four-cornered contest among BN, PAS, Amanah and an Independent candidate, involving Mastura, widow of Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar; Perak PAS Wanita chief Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad; Kuala Kangsar Amanah vice-chief Prof Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli and Izat Bukhary Ismail Bukhary.
The Sungai Besar by-election is a three-cornered fight among BN, PAS and Amanah, involving Budiman; PAS state assemblyman for Meru Dr Abdul Rani Osman and Sungai Besar Amanah chairman Azhar Abdul Shukur. Kuala Kangsar has 32,949 voters and Sungai Besar, 42,655. — Bernama
