KUALA KANGSAR, Jun 18 – The Barisan Nasional today won the Sungai Besar by-election with a 9,191 vote majority. BN’s candidate Budiman Mohd Zohdi garnered 16,800 votes while Parti Amanah Negara candidate Azhar Abdul Shukur received 7,609 votes. PAS’s candidate Dr Abdul Rani Osman effectively losing his election which managed 6,902 votes respectively.
There are 42,365 voters eligible to cast their votes in Sungai Besar. On June 14, some 265 of the 286 early voters cast their ballots at two polling centres at the Sabak Bernam District Police headquarters here. The Kuala Kangsar by-election is being held following the death of the MP, Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad, in a helicopter crash in Sarawak on May 5.
