KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 20 – The Ampang magistrate’s court today set Aug 2 to hear the case of a childminder who pleaded not guilty to a charge of abusing her adopted daughter. Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor set the date after lawyer Samry Masri, representing the 48-year-old accused, informed the court that he had received the documents on the case from the prosecution, represented by DPP Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin.
The accused is charged with abusing the girl, aged five years and seven months, at a tadika in Taman Bukit Indah here between 2015 and April 8, this year. The charge, under the Child Act 2001, provides a fine of not more than RM20,000 or imprisonment for up to 10 years, or both, if found guilty. — Bernama
