BAGAN DATOH, Jun 22 – Illegal immigrants can obtain temporary travel documents from their respective embassies to return home for Aidilfitri celebrations. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid said temporary travel documents were prepared in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy, the Bangladesh High Commission and the embassies of several Islamic countries.

The home minister said he told that non-governmental organisations from Indonesia will provide a special plane to take the illegal immigrants home. Earlier, he was performing ‘isya’ and ‘tarawih’ prayers with about 300 Muslims at Masjid Ahmadiah Kampung Sungai Batang, Selekoh, here tonight. Some 250,000 illegal immigrants from Indonesia took the offer last year. — Bernama
