MECCA, Jun 23 – Two medical centres, with 48 doctors, will be set up by the Pilgrims Fund Board (Tabung Haji-TH) to see to the health and medical needs of 22,320 Malaysians expected to arrive on the holy land beginning August for the haj pilgrimage. The medical centre in Madinah will operate at the Al-Jaffrey Tabung Haji building, while the one here will be located near the stone-throwing area in Mina.
TH Haj Consul Datuk Redhuan Sabaruddin said the doctors would include 16 specialists and a dentist. The doctors would be among 250 medical personnel specially brought from Malaysia by TH, with the cooperation of the Health Ministry, to serve the Malaysian haj pilgrims, he told the Malaysian media at the TH medical centre here today. He said clinics would also be available at all “maktab” (accommodation places for pilgrims). — Bernama
