GEORGE TOWN, Jun 24 – Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, who was hospitalised in the Penang Hospital intensive care unit (ICU) for 18 days, has being discharged Thursday. Ahmad Bashah was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Hizam Awang Ahmad, Penang Hospital anaesthesiologist Datuk Jahizah Hassan and several other hospital representatives when he was discharged at about 4.30pm.
He is expected to do a medical follow-up at the hospital next Monday. As he exited the ICU ward, Ahmad Bashah was seen happy and smiling, waving to the members of the press. Ahmad Bashah was admitted to the hospital after he fainted at Grand Alora Hotel, Alor Star while he was attending a meeting and was sent to the Kedah Medical Centre on June 4. He was then transferred to Penang Hospital the next day and underwent a surgery to remove a part of his large intestines that was bleeding and had caused him to faint earlier. — Bernama
