Almost 10% Of TNB Customers In Perlis Enjoy Free Electricity

KANGAR, Jul 4 – Almost 10% or 9,000 out of 92,000 Tenaga Nasional Berhad customers in Perlis are enjoying free electricity for spending below RM20 in their monthly bills. Its state general manager, Abd Aziz Yaacob said the number has declined as compared to almost 13,000 consumers in 2014. The federal government programme is aimed at easing the burden of the poor.

He said the consumers do not have to pay when their monthly bill is below RM20 but they have to if they exceed that limit. On its corporate social responsibility, Abd Aziz said Perlis TNB had spent RM310,000 in building and repairing 10 houses for the poor under its ‘Baiti Jannati’ project since 2008. He said for this year, the company had spent RM50,000 to repair two houses in Kampung Tok Kuning, Kayang and Padang Telela, Pauh here. — Bernama
