GEORGE TOWN, Jul 13 – Four in a family, including a two-year-old boy, were gunned down in a chicken processing factory at Batu Maung early this morning. Police said they were informed of the incident at 2.55am that a 32-year-old man, believed to be on drugs, had rushed into the container home opened fire at least 11 times shot dead his mother, stepfather, younger brother and nephew.
Penang CID chief Datuk Razaruddin Husain @ Abdul Rasid said the deceased are identified as Tan Hock Choon, 50, Tan Saw Sim, 55, Chung Wah Thong, 28, and the two-year-old toddler known as Ah Bee. The man’s mother boyfriend Toh, believed to be the owner of the chicken factory.
The killer is believed to be a family member. Police believe that the incident happened as the family and Toh were sleeping in the factory’s living quarters, a makeshift container. Razaruddin said the suspect, identified as Chung Chun Wah, was the second son of 55-year-old woman.
He said initial investigation showed that the man could have gone into a rage after he could not get money to buy drugs. He said the suspect is believed to have fled the scene in a Toyota Hilux, registration number PLJ 7392, belong to Toh and search efforts have been intensified.
