Former Van Driver Fined For Hurting Wife
KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 14 – A former van driver was fined RM3,000, in default three months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for causing hurt on his wife. Magistrate Mohd Rehan Mohd Aris handed down the sentence on S. Suresh, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Suresh, 23, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt on M. Kajalatchmy, 24, a sales promoter, at Level 1, Medan Selera Pusat Dagangan, Jalan Bunus here at 7.30pm last June 29. The woman sustained injuries on the left abdomen, head and back in the incident.
The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to two years, or fine of up to RM4,000, or both, upon conviction. In mitigation, Suresh, who was unrepresented, said he no longer had a permanent job and was taking care of his mother. Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin prosecuted. — Bernama
