Sukma 2016: Perlis Sets Aside RM250,000 Incentive For Its Athletes
KANGAR, Jul 14 – The state government has set aside an incentive of RM250,000 to motivate its contingent of 303 athletes to win medals in the 18th Sukma Games in Sarawak beginning July 22. Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said Perlis would reward its athletes with instant cash of RM700 for Gold, RM500 (Silver) and RM300 (Bronze).
He said on top of that, a further reward of up to RM5,000 await the medallists. He said this after the handing over of the state flag to the Perlis Sukma contingent at Dewan Rakan Sukan here last night. Also present at the ceremony were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Hamdan Bahari, State Secretary Ahmad Zamri Khairuddin and State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Abdul Jamil Saad.
According to Azlan, Perlis is targeting 10 gold in boxing, weight lifting, tennis, taekwondo and silat. He also said that from the confidence shown by the contingent manager and athletes, he feel it would not be impossible for them to win more than their initial target of medals in the 18 events. — Bernama
