Road Closure In Sunway To Make Way For MRT Construction

KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 19 – Project delivery partner for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project, MMC-Gamuda, today announced that there will be continuation of short-term night traffic diversion and road closure at Persiaran Surian near Sunway Giza Mall or Dataran Sunway after Persiaran Mahogani intersection from today until July 24.

MMC-Gamuda in a statement said the closure would take place from 10pm until 5am daily to facilitate road works near Surian Station. During the period, motorists from Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) heading to Persiaran Mohagani, Persiaran Surian (Sungai Buloh-bound) will need to turn right into Jalan PJU 5/1 at Sunway Nexis, and then turn left into Jalan PJU 5/19 before turning left into Persiaran Mahogani to join back Persiaran Surian.

While, motorists heading to LDP will be diverted into Persiaran Mahogani, turn right into Jalan PJU 5/19 and another right into Jalan PJU 5/1 to join back Persiaran Surian near Sunway Nexis, the statement said. MMC-Gamuda would also continue with its Traffic Management Plan along the LDP, which is implemented intermittently from July 20 until Aug 3 from 11pm to 6am.

The plan will involve the closure of one lane in front to Damansara Utama SS21 (Kepong-bound) and both bounds of Persiaran Bandar Utama from Dataran Bandar Utama to exit into LDP. Another closure will be along the LDP from Sri Pentas junction to One Utama (New Wing) junction from midnight until 8 am on Saturday and Sunday.

During these closures, motorists from SS2 on LDP (Kepong-bound) and from Jalan Damansara wanting to turn into Persiaran Bandar Utama will need to drive 250m ahead and turn left into Persiaran Surian, where they can access the Bandar Utama area by making another left turn at Dataran Bandar Utama, the statement said.

Meanwhile, motorists from the Sprint Highway intending to go to Bandar Utama may also continue to travel on the Sprint Highway (E23) and approach One Utamaa from Lebuh Bandar Utama. Signages, safety barriers, traffic cones and flagmen will be in place to ensure road users would be alerted of the closure and on-going works.

According to the statement, there will be a continuation of night contra-flows implemented on Jalan Sungai Buloh and Jalan Welfare from July 22 until Sept 30 between 11 pm to 5 am and closures of affected roads at Jalan Sungai Buloh (Kuala Selangor-bound and Subang-bound) will be done intermittently.

During this time, motorists from Subang heading to Kuala Selangor will be diverted to the opposite lane for two kilometres and one traffic lane will be made available for each direction (Subang and Kuala Selangor-bound). Motorist from Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh may still access Jalan Baru Sungai Buloh, while those from Kuala Selangor, Kepong and Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh heading to Subang will be diverted for 200 metres into the opposite lane.

Residents near the Sungai Buloh Forestry Training Centre heading out to Subang will need to make a U-turn at the traffic light of Jalan Welfare and motorists from Kampung Selamat may exit left at Jalan Sungai Buloh towards the Jalan Welfare traffic light junction, according to the statement. — Bernama
