PKR Still Undecided On Backing Proposal For Penang Snap Election
GEORGE TOWN, Jul 20 – Penang PKR remains undecided whether to support a proposal to hold a snap election in Penang, said Deputy Chief Minister I and PKR Political Bureau member Datuk Rashid Hasnon. He said the state PKR shared the Central PKR view that more time was needed to look into the proposal.
He said they have not rejected the proposal but need some more time to consider it before arriving at a decision. He told this to reporters after attending an Aidilfitri open house of Rapid Penang here today. Rashid said a meeting of the political bureau last night decided that the PKR had yet to be convinced of the objective of the proposal for a snap election. He said they will hold more meetings with the state leaders and people’s representatives.
Rashid declined to confirm if the snap election was on the agenda of the state executive council meeting today. He said he had to leave the meeting earlier this morning to launch a double-decker Rapid Penang bus, so he do not know whether the matter was discussed. Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng is expected to hold a press conference this afternoon following the state executive council meeting. — Bernama
