COLOMBO, Jul 22 – Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is on a two-day working visit to Sri Lanka, is scheduled to make a courtesy call on Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe here this morning. He will made the call on Wickremesinghe at the latter’s office at Temple Tree, Colombo 3, here, at about 9.30am.
Following that, Ahmad Zahid is scheduled to hold talks with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera. This is to be followed with a visit to the Asia Pacific Institute for Information Technology (APIIT), here, and a meeting with the Sri Lanka branch of the Malay World Islamic World (DMDI) group, before flying home, expected at 2pm (4.30pm in Malaysia).
The DMDI event involves a meeting with Sri Lankan Malay representatives. Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, arrived here early yesterday for a two-day working visit aimed at enhancing ties between Colombo and Kuala Lumpur. Yesterday, he paid a courtesy call on Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena. — Bernama
