KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 23 – An unemployed woman claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court Saturday for possessing 102 pieces of counterfeit currency valued at RM10,000, this month. Madina Hashim, 49, was accused of possessing 102 pieces of RM100 counterfeit notes with the intention of using them as genuine money.
She was alleged to have committed the offence at Bangunan Bank Negara Malaysia, Jalan Dato Onn, Dang Wangi, here on July 13 at 4.45pm. The accused, who was unrepresented, was charged under Section 489 (C) of the Penal Code and faced up to 10 years’ imprisonment if convicted. Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin offered bail to be set at RM10,000. Magistrate Muhyiddin Mohammad Som set bail at RM3,000 with one surety and fixed Aug 29 for mention. — Bernama
