PUTRAJAYA, Aug 9 – Former Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin registered a new pro-bumiputera political party this afternoon. He arrived at the Registry of Societies (RoS) headquarters in Putrajaya this afternoon to submit the application form.
He said the new party to be named Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with chaired by Mahathir and the latter’s son Mukhriz named as the vice-president. He said the party membership is open to all Malaysians such as Bumiputras, orang Asli, Sabahans and Sarawakians.
He said the party also open to other Malaysians such as Chinese and Indians, but only as associate members, who will have the same rights as the regular members, only difference is that they cannot contest for posts but be appointed instead. He also added that Bersatu would be inclusive without discriminating race and religion.
“Besides that, I had also spoken to Home Minister, Tan Sri Zahid Hamidi on this matter, and he had said that the application would be considered fairly. Therefore, I hope that the application would be reviewed and approved soon,” Muhyiddin told reporters after submitting an application form.
