KOTA KINABALU, Jan 22 – The Ministry of Domestic Trade Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has listed 12 types of controlled items under the Chinese New Year Festive Season Price Control Scheme 2017 for Sabah. KPDNKK secretary general Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh said the measure to curb traders from raising prices of goods from the ceiling prices set would be effective from tomorrow until Feb 3.

The controlled items included standard chicken, super chicken, grade A chicken eggs, grade B chicken eggs, grade C chicken eggs, imported round cabbage (Indonesia and China), white onions (China), pomfret, big white prawns, pork (belly) and pork (meat and fat). He said he hope that the traders here will sell the controlled items according to the prices set starting tomorrow.

He told this to reporters after making a visit to the Kota Kinabalu market here today. Also present was state Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Janaib Ahmad Ayid. Jamil also assured that essential goods for the coming Chinese New Year were sufficient and the ministry would continue to conduct inspections to ensure the traders adhered to the prices set. — Bernama
