KOTA BARU, Feb 12 – PAS will not join Pakatan Harapan as long as the pact is participated by DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), said its vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah. Mohd Amar, who concurred with the decision made by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on the issue, said the party did not need the one month deadline to give a decision whether to join the pact or not as set by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Mahathir Mohamad yesterday.

“We have decided not to be with (other opposition parties) in Pakatan Harapan and this is not like a crossword puzzle which has a definite period. We have stated that we do not want to join the coalition. With a definite period or not, that is the decision because DAP and Amanah are there (in Pakatan Harapan,” said Mohd Amar, who is also Kelantan deputy mentri besar, when met by reporters at his office at the Kota Darul Naim Complex here today.

He was commenting on the statement by Dr Mahathir who gave PAS one month to decide whether the Islamic party wanted the opposition pact. He said PAS had its own stand on the issue and it should be respected by other colleagues in the opposition, who should not have used such an approach to force PAS to join the pact. — Bernama
