GEORGE TOWN, Feb 15 – The Penang football team has been losing every single match in the current Super League, and Penang Gerakan wants the team manager and Penang FA president, YB Zairil Khir Johari, to account for the dismal performance. Penang Gerakan key spokesperson Ooi Zhi Yi said Zairil should give a good solution on how to improve the team’s performance.
Bukit Bendera MP, Zairil Khir Johari was appointed team manager in November 2016 and then became president of Football Association of Penang (FAP) early this year, when the former president resigned. Ooi said the Penang’s team bad performance reflected the inability of the state government and Zairil in handling the matter.
“We know that the state government has contributed RM8 million to Penang FA for their expenditure for the year 2017. So what is Zairil’s plan in this 2017 season? What are their aims and goals? How are they planning to stay away from the relegation zone if the Penang team continues the losing streak?” Ooi said.
I’m a echoing the concerns of Penang football fans who want to know what the FAP is doing to address the situation. Nowadays in football, fans are also part of the football team. They have the right to know what are the plans, aims and goals for the football team,” he said.
