KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 3 – An earthquake of 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked southern Sumatera at 9.55 pm yesterday. The area hit is 105km Northwest of Bengkulu. A statement issued by Malaysian Meteorological Department said that the quake was located 578km Southwest of Pontian, Johor. No tsunami threat was issued due to the quake. According to the Richter scale, earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0-5.9 are considered to be moderate. — Bernama
