The Senior Citizen Involved In The Hit-and-run Accident Victim Dies
GEORGE TOWN, Apr 6 – The senior citizen involved in the hit-and-run accident at Pulau Tikus here this morning has died. In a statement released to the media, Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said in the 10am incident the victim, identified as Foo Swee Wah, 60, sustained severe head injuries and a broken leg.
“She passed away at about 8.45pm”, he said. A 12-second video clip recorded by a motorist has since gone viral in the social media. Mior said police had identified the registration number of the motorcycle and urged the motorcyclist to surrender to police.
The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving resulting in death. Pulau Tikus assemblyman Yap Soo Huey earlier today highlighted the incident in a press conference at her service centre in Pulau Tikus where she expressed her concern over the safety of pedestrians in her constituency and the state.
