GEORGE TOWN, Apr 7 – OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said police have attested the suspect of a hit-and-run accident which caused the death of a 58-year-old woman, Foo Swee Wah. The suspect was arrested at Penang Hospital and later brought to the northeast district traffic police station. Mior said the suspect was also injured due to the accident. Meanwhile, police have yet to reveal the identity of the suspect.

Foo, who is believed to be a coffee-shop operator, was killed after she was rammed by a motorcyclist who ran the red light at a pedestrian crossing in Burma Road, near the Pulau Tikus police station here on yesterday. The motorcyclist’s helmet was flung off his head in the impact but he sped away from the scene without stopping. A 12-second video of the incident, which was recorded by the dashboard camera of a vehicle, has since gone viral.
