PUTRAJAYA, Apr 19 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture in conjunction with the “Pertandingan Seni Negaraku” (My Nation’s Arts Competition) at the Bangunan Perdana Putra, here today.
The competition, involving 10,176 schools and more than five million students throughout the country to develop the spirit of patriotism through the expression of visual art among school students. In addition, the programme beginning May 1 to Aug 31 aimed to develop resilience and patriotism among students besides instilling appreciation for creativity and artistic talents at the young age among students.
The MoU was signed by the Education director-general Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamed Yusof and the director-general of the National Visual Art Development Board Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa. Also present to witness the MoU signing ceremony were Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
Also present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, secretary-general of the Education Ministry Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad and the secretary-general of the Tourism and Culture Ministry Datuk Ab Ghaffar A. Tambi. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said an overall prize worth RM100,000 would be awarded to the winners of each category.
In addition, Najib said a special prize would be given to the school sending the most number of participation for the primary, secondary and district schools. Results of the competition would be announced in the official Facebook of Balai Seni Negara and the website www.artgallery.gov.my. — Bernama
