KUALA BERANG, Jul 19 – Being a doting grandmother of five has not hindered Latifah Abdul Rahman, 52, from participating in the fourth day of the KL Torch Run 2017 in the Hulu Terengganu district today. Latifah Abdul Rahman truly lived up to the slogan of “Semarakkan Semangat Bangkit Bersama” when she completed the six-kilometre run in the district with high spirits and enthusiasm.

“At the start of the run, I cannot deny I already felt tired … maybe due to age factor but when I look at the spirit of the school children, I was determined to finish the run. Furthermore I was impressed to see the extraordinary support of the people of Kuala Berang from kindergarten pupils to shopkeepers for coming out to support the participants along the road,” she told reporters at the handing over of the torch to Kuala Nerus district officer, Datuk Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil.

Also present were state Youth, Sports and Human Resources Committee chairman cum Telemong assemblyman, Datuk Rozi Mamat; Trade and Industry Committee chairman cum Kuala Berang assemblyman, Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang; Communications, Multimedia and Special Functions Committee chairman cum Ajil assemblyman, Ghazali Taib; and Hulu Terengganu district officer, Azmi Razik.

Participants comprising school students, government bodies and non-governmental organisations joined the torch run in Hulu Terengganu. The nationwide run, being held in conjunction with the KL 2017 SEA Games, began on May 14 in Johor and will conclude on August 12 in Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
