LANGKAWI, Aug 10 – AirAsia, the world’s best low-cost airline today welcomed its inaugural flight from Shenzhen to Langkawi with 89 percent load factor. The flight AK 1713 was greeted by a water canon salute upon arrival into Langkawi International Airport and was also received by YBhg. Dato’ Haji Azizan Noordin, Chief Executive Officer, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).
The new route with three times weekly direct flights marks AirAsia’s third international route from Langkawi besides Singapore and Guangzhou, and seventh route from Langkawi besides Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Singapore, and Guangzhou.
“We are pleased to welcome the inaugural flight from Shenzhen to Langkawi this morning. We have flown over 1 million guests into Langkawi this year, and we anticipate the number of inbound guests will continue to grow even further with this new route,” Aireen Omar, CEO, AirAsia Berhad said.
