KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 – The official Grand Launch of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready-to-Wear 2017 (KLFW RTW 2017), celebrates its fifth anniversary at Bukit Bintang Entrance, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with five highly anticipated days of event filled with back-to-back fashion shows featuring never-before-seen Ready-to-Wear collections by over 150 designers from all across Asia.
20 of which belong to AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2017, who will be competing during the Grand Finale on the 18th August 2017. The launch was officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, YBhg. Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
The remarkable evening united VIPs, partners, sponsors and members of the media where guests were treated to captivating performance by Malaysian own soul queen, Ning Baizura, drum troupe and cultural dance. The glamorous occasion was rounded up with exclusive sneak peeks of this year’s creations from brands like Innai Red, Nabil Volkers, Super Sunday and more.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia is pleased to support this event as we believe that lifestyle and fashion programmes such as this will help in boosting the growth of our shopping sector further. Shopping is an important and lucrative for our tourism industry,” said YB Datuk Hjh Mas Ermieyati binti Haji Samsudin, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture at the event.
“For the first quarter of 2017, tourist expenditure on shopping recorded RM5.4 billion of our total receipt of RM18.0 billion. It was an increase of 6.3 percent against the same period last year. This trend is a clear reflection of Malaysia’s current profile as a shopping destination as acknowledged by a series of reputable international rating agencies.”
Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear was conceptualized in 2013 as a B-2-C platform for Malaysian designers to showcase their Ready to Wear Collections and ultimately highlighted the strength and creativity of the Malaysia’s Fashion Industry to local and international customers. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year and it’s about to get bigger than ever.
Working closely with Tourism Malaysia and our Preferred Travel Partner, AirAsia, Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear 2017 will be inviting SIX (6) International Guest Designers from China, India, Australia, Japan, Philippines and South Korea to facilitate a creative bi-lateral dialogue between our local and international designers and to promote the international growth of our local designers in the very near future.
Tourism Malaysia has also taken the initiative to include the public to join the festival by providing a Fashion-on-Go OOTD Truck, that encourages public to go to the truck and take an OOTD picture and upload it on their social media with the official hashtags #RURunwayReady, #Negaraku, #SayangMalaysia and #IAMHOMEGROWN; lucky winners will stand a chance to win tickets to KLFW RTW 2017. — PN
