Police Nab Six Suspects,Seize Syabu



KUCHING, Au 15 – The federal police detained six people including two foreigners to facilitate investigations into drug distribution activities. The suspects aged between 21 and 47 were picked up about 1.20am today, during a raid at a house in Jalan Bukit Penyau, Sibu.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Amer Awal said the police seized 212.4 grammes of the party drug, syabu worth RM38,232, three vehicles costing RM496,600 and RM59,000 cash. He said the suspects had been remanded for five days to facilitate investigations under Section 398 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Upon conviction under the act, the suspects face the mandatory death penalty. Meanwhile, Bintulu police detained two foreigners about 3pm yesterday in connection with the seizure of 53.2 grammes of syabu worth about RM57,000. The duo, believed to be illegal immigrants have been remanded for two weeks. — Bernama
