JEMPOL, Aug 18 – The Bahau Magistrate’s Court today had been fixed September 13, 2017 for the mention on a case involving a trailer driver who is accused of causing the death of eight people in an accident at KM25, Bahau-Keratong road on June 11. 

Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali set the date after allowing the application by deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hijrah Wan Ahmad for proceeding adjournment pending the chemistry, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research and Land Public Transport Commission reports.

In the meanwhile, the accused, Norzailan Omar, 44, from Triang, Pahang and who was represented by lawyer D. Anuratha, also came to the court on about 9.15am, which was accompanied by his friend. Norzailan had previously pleaded not guilty to the charge. 

According to the charge, he had allegedly driven the trailer in a dangerous manner without paying attention to all aspects including the type, condition and size of the road as well as the traffic condition to the extent of causing the accident which took the lives of the drivers and passengers of a Proton Exora car and a Perodua Myvi last June 11.

Norzailan was charged with causing the death of Wan Mohd Fauzi Wan Mohd Ibrahim, 52, Masnoraida M.Yussof, 44, Wan Mohd Muhaimin Wan Mohd Fauzi, 21, Wan Nur Athira Wan Mohd Fauzi, 18, Wan Muhammad Ammar Haziq Wan Mohd Fauzi, 13, Wan Nur Aleesya Wan Mohd Fauzi, 7, Osman Mohamed Taip, 31, and Rosniza Othman, 32. — Bernama
