KUANTAN, Aug 28 – Two Pahang Information Department assistant officers were charged in the Sessions Court here today with four counts of submitting false invoices amounting to RM1,950 for food preparation for a 1Malaysia programme organised by the department in Cameron Highlands.
Samsuri Mamat, 41, and Zuraini Uda, 35, claimed trial to committing the offences at the department’s office in Cameron Highlands around August and November 2014. The invoices dated Aug 11 and Nov 7, 2014 for between RM400 and RM750 each were purportedly for food preparation at a 1Malaysia programme in Kampung Pangen on July 22, 2014, Kampung Telanok (Oct 12, 2014), Kampung Rening (Oct 18, 2014) and Kampung Sungai Chohong (Oct 24, 2014).
Judge Datuk Habibah Mohamed Yusof set RM6,000 as bail with one surety and Sept 19 for remention. The charge under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and punishable under Section 24 of the same Act carries imprisonment of up to 20 years and fine of five times the amount involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher. Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zamry represented the MACC while the two accused were unrepresented. — Bernama
