PUTRAJAYA, Sept 13 – The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that 10 Malaysians were affected in a blaze at Clifton in Christchurch, New Zealand on Sunday. In a statement here today, it said two of the victims were sent to the Christchurch General Hospital and were reported to be in stable condition.
It added the Malaysian High Commission in Wellington was currently monitoring the condition of the victims and would render consular assistance accordingly. The ministry said Malaysians needing consular assistance in New Zealand could contact the High Commission of Malaysia in Wellington at:

On Sunday, a blaze gutted a luxury Christchurch hilltop Airbnb house which was rented by a group of Malaysian tourists who were unsuccessful in putting out the fire which began about 8.30pm. It was reported the fire destroyed the three-storey wooden house on Clifton Terrace in the seaside suburb of Sumner. Six people were taken to the hospital, with four having sustained moderate injuries and the rest, minor injuries. — Bernama
