Eight Underaged Youths Among 25 Held For Possessing Drugs



BUKIT MERTAJAM, Sept 21 – Eight underaged youths were among 25 individuals charged in the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court here today for possessing drugs. The individuals are Muhammad Firdaus Rosley, 18; Mohamad Akmal Shamsudin, 22; Amzar Fahim Rosli, 22; Muhammad Zulhaili Zafrullah Zulkifli, 21; Mohamad Azri Hisyam Mohd Ariff, 21; Mohammad Shaqirin Sa’aban, 20; Aniq Ishraf Hafey Mohamad Zuki, 19; Luqman Hakim Fakrurazi, 19; Mohamad Lokman Imran Selamat, 18; Sa’adon Din, 26; and Aniq Ashraf Hafiz Mohamad Zuki, 19.

The other individuals Nur Atiqah Zulkifli, 23; Nur Fithriyaani Ishak, 21; Dayang Sharmilly Zulkitlee, 20; Noor Elyya Natasha Md Norizan, 18; and Nurul Shuhada Adnan, 18; pleaded not guilty to the charge while an accused Tan Ming Lhek, 20, pleaded guilty to the charge. They were jointly accused of possessing 0.81g of Nimetazepam at 03-07, Jalan Kelisa Emas 4, Kelisa apartment, Prai here at 11 am on Sept 17. For the second offence, they were charged with possessing 1.5g of Ketamin at the same place and time.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Firdaus also pleaded not guilty to another charge of possessing 0.81g of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine at the same place and time. They were charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and read with Section 12(3) of the same act which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or a maximum jail term of five years or both upon conviction. Magistrate Diane Nigrat Nor Azahar allowed all the accused bail of RM3,000 each and set Nov 23 for re-mention of the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Hafiz Hashim appeared for the prosecution while all the accused were represented by counsel Zainal Akram Zainal Azahar. Meanwhile in a separate magistrate court, Mohamad Akmal, Muhammad Zulhaili Zafrullah, Mohammad Shaqirin, Luqman Hakim, Sa’adon, Tan, Dayang Sharmilly, Nor Elyya Natasha and Nur Fithriyaani pleaded guilty to putting drugs into their bodies.

They were charged with the offence at the Seberang Prai Centre police headquarters Narcotics CID office here at 2.45pm on Sept 17. Magistrate Jamaliah Abd Manap set bail of between RM3,500 to RM7,000 for each of the accused and fixed Nov 22 for re-mention. Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Noor Syafina Ahmad Redzuan while all the accused were not represented.

In this regard, nine more accused also pleaded guilty on the same charges at a separate magistrate’s court and Magistrate Diane Nigrat set bail at RM4,000 for each of the accused while awaiting the re-mention date. It was learnt another woman accused, who was also held with the group, was not present in court today as she was being treated in the hospital. — Bernama
