KEPALA BATAS, Oct 3 – The Penang police have uncovered 19 drug labs and opened 2,692 investigation papers on drug trafficking crimes in the state in 2015 and 2016. Acting Penang Police chief Datuk Roslee Chik said throughout the two years, the police had also seized various types of drugs weighing over 520kg, as well as 581,81,76 Eramin Five pills.
“I hope that the Penang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department will continue to excel in its fight against drug production and distribution in the state,” he told reporters after the handing over of narcotic case items to Kualiti Alam Sdn Bhd for disposal here today.
A total of 98.3kg of ganja, syabu, ketamine and heroin as well as 567,460 pills of various drugs worth more than RM10 million were handed over by the Penang Police to be disposed of by the company. “The drugs destroyed involved 891 cases solved between 2000 and 2016,” he added. — Bernama
