PETALING JAYA, Oct 18 – Business mogul and prominent philanthropist Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay, the founder of YTL Corporation Bhd, has passed away at age 88. He is survived by his wife Puan Sri Yeoh Kai Yong and seven children including his eldest son, Tan Sri Francis Yeoh is the managing director of YTL Corporation.
The senior Yeoh founded YTL in 1955 as a small construction company. It is now one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerate with interest in technology, hotels, utilities, construction, and property management. Family and friends may pay their last respects from 7pm onwards tomorrow at 2 Lorong Buloh Perindu 1, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur.
Wake services will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8.30pm while the funeral service will be on Sunday at 10am. According to Forbes, Yeoh has a net worth of US$2.1 billion (RM8.8 billion), ranked seventh in the latest edition of Forbes’ Malaysia ’50 richest’ list back in March. He founded YTL in 1955 as a construction company but had since flourished into Malaysia’s largest conglomerate with interest in technology, hotels, utilities, construction and property management.
