GEORGE TOWN, Nov 13 – Penang Hill is classified as a red zone due to the landslides after a massive storm hit the whole of Penang on Nov 4 and it is not safe for hiking activities.

As major clearance and repair works, involving heavy machinery, are being carried out on the jeep track and other trails leading up to Penang Hill, hikers are urged to refrain from hiking up for their personal safety.

“To enable our workers and residents to focus on the recovery work, we would like to seek your understanding to refrain from hiking up to Penang Hill until further notice,” Penang Hill Public Relations Officer Shobalini Thoraraisa.
