The Opening Ceremony Of In-Between Arts Festival At Armenian Park



GEORGE TOWN, Nov 27 – The opening ceremony of In-Between Arts Festival was happening at Armenian Park here today with the present of Penang State EXCO for Tourism Development, YB Danny Law and Penang Island City Council’s (MBPP) mayor, Datuk Maimunah Mohd Sharif.

Organised within a budget of only Rm20,000 each year, the In-Between Arts Festival is promoted together with two other festivals, for 10 consecutive days, starting with George Town Literary Festival and ending with Penang Island Jazz Festival. All three festivals are promoted together as ’10 Days 3 Festivals’, aiming to lure visitors to stay longer in Penang – the hub fr arts and culture.

The event was organised by TLM Event with the endorsement of the Penang State Government and the support of Penang Global Tourism. This three-day festival will be held here at the Armenian Park from today until Wednesday 29 November, starting from 5pm to 10pm.

The festival will enable visitors to experience the various cultures through music and arts presentations on stage, learn traditional games as well as have a hands-on understanding of the various workshops such as Wau Making, Wayang Kulit Making, Batik Painting, Kolam Making, Paper Cutting and a few others.

Amid all that is happening here, let’s not forget to also appreciate this little charming venue – the Armenian Park that has been transformed to fit the festival theme – Penang cultures and traditions. In these three days, there will be showcasing an interesting range of cultural performances – the main highlight being traditional performances of Penang’s main ethnic origin.

There will also be percussion performances such as Gamelan, Dhol and Chinese Drums as well as martial art performances comprising Silat, Wushu and Silambam. Other interesting activities such as traditional games, the Chinese opera makeover, lion dance performance. traditional trades, local food & beverages and local arts & crafts will be held as well. — PN
