Filipino And Thai Teams Clinched Eight Titles

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 4 – Two international newcomers won overall champion of the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival 2017 at Teluk Bahang Dam on the weekend (Dec. 2-3). The Philippine Canoe Kayak and Dragon Boat Federation along with Toto Dragon Thailand paddled their way to four titles each. 

The Filipinos clinched four golds in the International Premier Mixed (200m and 500m) and International Junior U24 Open (200m and 500m) in the two-day event, on top of bagging three silvers. The Thais took home the gold medals in the International Premier Women (200m and 500m) and International Premier Open (200m and 500m).

In the meanwhile, Penang Forward Sports Club had also bagged four golds in the International Seniors 40 Mixed (200m and 500m) and International Seniors 40 Open (200m and 500m), compared with eight titles last year. 

The two-day annual event, which has cash prizes amounting to RM50,000, returned on a grand assembly of 26 international team from Australia, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Iran, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand and 24 Malaysian teams. — PN
