The Opening Ceremony Of 44th Pesta Hoki International USM 2017 At Dewan Utama Desasiswa

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 15 – The opening ceremony of 44th Pesta Hoki International  (PHI) USM 2017 was happening at Dewan Utama Desasiswa, University Science Malaysia (USM) here yesterday. The event was organised by students from USM. Listed and recognised four times as the “Largest Field Hockey Championship” by the Malaysia Book of Records, Pesta Hoki USM-Penang International (PHI) is coming the 44th years since its inception in 1973.

The competition will be held from the 15th to 17th December at Minden Field, USM. Team which are participating this year are India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and also Indonesia. There are 11 categories and an estimation of 300 teams participating in PHI this year.

The motto for PHI event this year will be ‘For the dream we believe, For the team we strive’ in order to inspire and encourage better teams. The organising committees are supported and advised by the Sports and Recreational Centre of USM as PHI is the largest event organised by USM student committees.

This tournament gives a great impact on promoting sportsmanship and international athlete connections. It will be great platform to experience and the member of public are also welcomed to join the event.
