Four other houses located nearby were also partially razed in the fire that rapidly spread due to strong winds.Bitangor Fire and Rescue chief Nicholas Belulin said following a distress call at 1.05pm a team of firefighters and machinery were deployed to the scene four minutes later.

“The fire spread rapidly due to the condition of the houses in the area that were built from wood and located near to each other. Strong winds and low water pressure also contributed to difficulties faced when extinguishing the fire,” he said.
