GEORGE TOWN, Mar 9 – The Penang DAP-led government has failed to address various environmental issues especially on the alleged hill cutting and land sale, says Penang Citizens Awareness Chant Group.
The group’s advisor, Yan Lee said the state government should at least answer all the queries on the illegal hill cutting activities, Pantai Jerejak development project, privatisation of Botanical garden and the alleged land sale.
He said the people deserves the right to know more about these activities happening in Penang and what kind of measures were to be taken by the state authority before the 14th General Election (GE14).
“There are at least six illegal hill cutting projects in the state that had yet to be answered by the state government or the MBPP on the measure taken to curb the activity, ” he told reporters here today.
On privatisation of the Penang Botanical garden, he urged the state government to assure that no land from the estimated 242-hectare land in the garden would be sold, privatised or leased. — Bernama
