SEPANG, Mar 13 – Stop diverting the issue and questions raised by the MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong on the controversial Penang undersea tunnel project, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai told under fire Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. He said instead of challenging him for a debate on the issue, Lim must provide answers to all the questions asked by Wee.
“Why does he want to challenge me for debate on the issue when Wee was the one had invited Lim for a debate and posed questions on the issue? He (Lim) doesn’t need to run away from this debate by giving excuses of his position as a Chief Minister, and that he cannot debate with the person who revealed the question, one who represents the rakyat.
“Everybody can see that he (Lim) is running away from the debate. This is as if he is trying to divert from the issue and avoid answering the questions,” he told a press conference after launch of six new KLIA Express trains at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here today.
Wee had on March 5 dared Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, to challenge him to a debate on the Penang undersea tunnel after Lim had labelled the MCA man a “despicable human being”. Lim, however, declined the challenge, saying he would only debate the issue with MCA president Liow, as it was only fitting, based on the principle of political protocol. — PN
