Tan To Be Challenged By Dr Cheah Again In Derga
ALOR STAR, Apr 16 – Kedah DAP chairman Tan Kok Yew will be defending his Derga state seat, and will once again be challenged by Datuk Dr Cheah Soon Hai of Gerakan, at the 14th General Election (GE14).
For the Darulaman state seat, the opposition would field a new face, 28-year-old Teh Swee Leong, who is also Kedah DAP executive secretary. Their names were announced by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng after opening the party’s GE14 Operation Centre for Derga here today.
Last month, Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong was reported as saying that the party had proposed Dr Cheah as the candidate to be fielded in Derga. In the last general election, Tan defeated Dr Cheah with 1,156-vote majority. — Bernama
