Tony Fernandes: Robust Economy Spurred AirAsia To Hit Record Numbers

KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 21 – Malaysia’s robust economy has helped low-cost carrier AirAsia hit record numbers, its Group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said. He said tourism would be the future growth driver for Malaysia.

“Economy in Malaysia is robust. Helping @AirAsia hit record numbers. Ringgit holding value. Still feel it should be RM3.50 (versus the US Dollar). Tourism (is) the future growth driver for Malaysia,” he tweeted yesterday.

Last month, Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Muhammad Ibrahim said underpinned by continued strong performance, the Malaysian economy has the potential to record more than 6.0% growth this year. Malaysia’s economy grew 5.9% in 2017. — Bernama
